What is a Railbike?

A railbike is a bike that is made to go on railroad tracks. It usually has a frame like a bike with pedals and small wheels that let it move along the rails. Rail bikes can be used for many things, like getting around and seeing the sights. Rail biking is a fun and different way to see the outdoors and find out about new places.

Our Day Trip to Scenic RailRiders

We visited in September of 2021. It was a beautiful day in Concord, New Hampshire as we drove up to ScenicRailriders for our rail bike tour. Excitement filled us as we got our tickets and snapped some selfies while we waited for our tour to start.

We were given the option of either a 2-person or 4-person rail bike, and we decided to go with the 2-person option since it was just the two of us.

The tour included a 2.4 mile round trip southern leg and a 4 mile round trip northern leg, and there were two turn-around points along the way where we could stretch our legs and take in the beautiful scenery along the Merrimack River.

As we rode along the tracks, the scenery was breathtaking. The sun was shining down on the green grass and trees, and we could hear the distant sound of the river rushing along. We even passed a farm and watched as the curious cows watch us pedal by.

At the first turn-around point, we stopped to take some photos and enjoy the fresh air.

The second turn-around point was in Boscawen, New Hampshire, and we decided to explore the nearby area while we waited for the tour to resume. It takes a bit of time for the staff to turn the railbikes around.

We walked down to the water and marveled at the beauty of the river as it flowed past us. We also made a stop at the Hannah Duston Memorial Statue, which was a destination on our tour.

On our way back to the station, we saw some kids having fun jumping off one of the train bridges into the water. It was a great way to end our rail bike tour, and we left with smiles on our faces and memories that would last a lifetime. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, adventure, and beautiful scenery.
