About the United States National Parks
The National Park Service, a Department of the Interior entity, manages the US National Parks. The country’s natural heritage is conserved through the National Parks, which are noted for their beauty and fauna.
Hiking, camping, and fishing are common in National Parks. Campgrounds, tourist centers, and pathways make outdoor recreation easy in many parks.
National Parks are culturally and historically significant as well as beautiful. Archaeological monuments, historic structures, and other cultural elements in many parks reveal the country’s history.
The 1916 Organic Act created the National Park Service. The National Park Service “preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the pleasure, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.” The National Parks are part of America’s legacy and provide opportunity to interact with nature and learn about its history.
